In Honor of Halloween

Lunch Today: Bullritos restaurant with the Saloom's

Just recently opened up in Nac. I am a burrito person and I give it two thumbs up! Not many places can compete with Chipotle but this place sure does!

Since it is Halloween, I thought I might dig up some old scary picts from the camera!

The background on what you are about to witness:
This summer in June a movie was being shot in Nac., "Christmas with the Dead"
(here is the link to IMDB page http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954334/ if you're interested)
in my history class the professor told us that they were looking for extras to play either zombies or cultists!(my mother was not thrilled about either of these options, or the whole movie in general lol)

I don't know about you but I was absolutely thrilled about getting to be in a movie, even if was an extra in the background!
I quickly agreed and went to the information meeting.  Luckily one of my friends Keith joined on board and was there with me!
When arriving on set we had little info of what was going to be happening to us except that after it was all said and done we were supposed to look like zombies oooooh!

This is what happend: (again, my mother will be absolutely horrified I am showing this!)

Getting my arms painted a nice zombie color

after the first part of make- up

some other zombie friends that had extensive masks done

Keith and I in our zombie make-up and garb

a very cool zombie wound (the make-up artists were sooo good! They worked in the movie Zombie Land also)

More zombies! (I was a little jealous I didn't get to be the zombie bride)

More cool make-up

Overall a very fun experience!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

After 2 months its over....

Quick blog:

What could I be referring to, that is over in 2 months? Oh you know just the holy union of matrimony between Kim Kardashian and  Kris Humphries.  Apparently the whole world is talking about it lol

I joined the whole Kardashian train a bit late, two weeks ago to be precise....

For years now I have been completely and totally anti- Kardashian, after all they are famous for no apparent reason and have no talents that boosted them to their current postion.  But I will get off my Kardashian bashing soapbox because...they finally got me!

A few weeks ago I was at home in the afternoon fixing lunch, I turned on the TV to watch for a few minutes while I threw down some lunch. Keeping Up With The Kardashians was on E and sure enough it was the Kim and Kris wedding edition. That was enough for me! and little did I know it was on from 12 till 4 pm (I didn't watch all of it honest!). Anyways from that moment on (for the past two weeks) I have been very interested in the Kardashian family life.

But the point of this blog: The fairy tale is over! Nooo!

"Sadly this morning, after just over two months of marriage under her belt, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her basketballer hubby Kris Humphries, citing irreconcilable differences."

WHAT?

They planned their wedding in 90 days, but the marriage was over in 60?  I don't know why my disbelief is so great or why I had such faith in the union of these two celebrities, after all it hollywood, right?

Running,Fishtail braids, and Auntie Pastas ...

Whenever I think about the blog throughout the day, I feel like I have very interesting ideas and thoughts to put down.  But somehow these all seem to leave my head when I sit down at the laptop...

The run this morning:
all in all 1 hour and 52 mins equally a whopping 15 miles wooo!
The weather while pretty chilly before we started, warmed up and was perfect throughout the run!  Marie and I explored a little ways down a country road that we didnt know existed...an adventure oohh :)

Two sausage Kolaches for a post run meal and I was ready to start the day!

Exciting moment numero uno (this is italicized to enforce my Spanish accent): I fishtail braided my hair today!
Now this may not seem very exciting but I had this on my "learn to do this list" for a long while now and with a reminder picture from Pinterest.com I set my mind and cleared some time and wallah!

I found the website: http://hellobeautiful.com/style-beauty/hellobeautifulstaff2/how-to-fishtail-braid/
which gave me the steps to follow.

Don't judge too much, it is my first attempt!
                                                                    Ya fishtail!

After this we went and set up the course ...(Yes,SomeMore!) So now it is completely beautiful and ready to be torn to bits tomorrow by the spikes of Southland runners!

Exciting moment numero dos: Afterwards, Pre-race dinner at Auntie Pasta's with the team, mmmm :) If you ever come to Nac. you absolutely must try Auntie Pastas. It is a home town Italian restaurant, I would recommend the Lasagna, Chicken Guadalupe, or Mama's spicy chicken and shrimp pasta...all wonderful!

(Chicken Guadalupe: my personal fav!)

Tonight though I tried one of the specials: Chicken Diablo, chicken with spicy chipotle sauce over fettuccine with mushrooms, and tomatoes. Right up my alley!  Not as pretty in my to-go box but still soo good, I would put it on the top list!

Adam and I then got to go and visit with his parents, who are in town for the race tomorrow!

To all the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks racing tomorrow: GOOD LUCK!! yall will do awesome, run yall's own race and run smart. Push hard when it hurts and know that you have the ability to be great! This is your home course, so you know what you need to do and where to do it. AXE 'EM JACKS!

Bridesmaids dress fittings...

Today = setting up the Southland Conference course (no fun sir), but even though its a lot of work it sure is fun to see the finished product of those sharp white lines against the green grass of the golf course :)

As far as running goes, Saturdays are the best because that means....the day off! (with the exception of 65 or up mile weeks). So no running in the books for me today.

Adam and I did get to go out to lunch at Chili's...we both got the chicken tortilla/enchilada, whichever one, soup. That is one benefit of hanging around Adam, as much as I tell him he needs to save his $$ it sure is nice to have someone who likes to go out to eat ;)

Now, getting around to the title of today's blog....While shopping in Houston with Mom, I found the bridesmaid dress I had been looking for!

(except in white!)
I wanted to get the cheapest price I could find for my bridesmaids (because lets face it we all know with everything being a bridesmaid can add up!)  So I went searching online and a little over a month ago I found a store in Longview that had the dresses with two discounts instead of the regular one that you get for wanting 9 dresses...everyone was like Oh wow, 9!....Also this sale was only going to be going on for the next week, so we quickly made a plan to take the girls from Nac and head to Longview!

Oh also, we didnt know anything about the store we were going to...We were kind of skeptical at first because
1) its called bargain warehouse
2) It didn't have a website
3) The prices were cheaper than anywhere else.
But mom called Dessy and they gave it their stamp of approval and we moved forward with the plans!

When we arrived in Longview and pulled up to the store this is the image we were greeted with...

Yes my friends, this is where we purchased the bridesmaids dresses!
It was quite an interesting place, and quite a cultural experience for us. But we had fun with the whole situation and made light of everything, they were such troopers, thats why I love them :)

In all different Dessy dresses

Meredith and I

Nicole

Randi doing a ninja move

Mom and Amanda arrived later so we got to see them as well!

Off to bed....15 mile long run in the morning to start off a 60 mile week!

The Salsa is In!!!

To begin with, I absolutely must gush over the amazing salsa that is sitting in my fridge! A man, who works at the athletic department with me, has a wonderful wife (never met her but i'm sure she must be, to make salsa like this!) who has discovered the secret to making perfect salsa!

If you know anything about me you know I am a salsa fanatic. I seriously spend about 5 minutes in front of the salsas at the store picking out the one with the perfect consistency. My roomie, Stephanie, brought this home one day and now whenever Mrs. Fennley makes them we are on it like a "hobo on a ham sandwich" - Dan Green

This morning Marie and I met up at 6:45 ready to rock and roll on our hill circuits (or ready to go back to bed    , whichever) and because of all the rain the day before we moved our location of the workout to the golf course, instead of the park.
we ran:
- 3 mile warm up

- 3x a 2k loop : there were two hills throughout that we surged up and we included about a 100 meter surge on a straightaway after both of the hills, on our way back to the start.

- 3 mile cool down

We then were met by the SFA coaching staff to begin setting up the course for the Southland Conference Championships on Monday!
(This was predominately uneventful except for the fact that Coach Clark brought me hot chocolate from starbucks!)

Our apartment at the moment is decked out in mice and orange....Stephanie's grandmother sent her halo-ween decorations and they make our apartment look so festive!

Oh almost forgot.... We took our 2nd rounds of engagement picts today with Lauren C.!! We had so much fun in downtown posing on the beautiful red brick streets, then off to a dirt road, and ended on the TRACK!  It was so cold and windy outside and I was freezing, but I cant wait to see them, thank you so much Lauren!!

So Many Things Going On!

Since i'm still getting the feel of this whole bloggin' thing and the format of everything, I feel a little overwhelmed and not sure which direction to begin in? The trouble now is getting it out of my head and onto the keyboard. So many things to tell you!

Starting off with way back this morning (or at least at this point it feels way long ago) ... Marie (my ex team-mate on SFA and current team-mate on Team Green) and I had our Recovery Run.
         - We ran 4 miles between 7:15-7:30 pace                                  Marie -->
         - Then ended with an ab session (I would give you more details on the abs but they honestly weren't very good and I should do another, but I will do better in the future on specific ab routines)

I know that wasn't the most interesting update but tomorrow will be much better since we have Hill Repeats in the morning!!

So now for everything coming up:
On Monday at Pine Forest Country Club in Nacogdoches the Southland Cross Country Conference meet will be taking place!! The Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks will be competing for the conference championship. Since this is my blog I will be biased in my excitement for Adam as he hopefully (and should!) be able to get in the top 10 which will make him All-Conference woo!

Flashback: I sooo miss last year racing with the girls in purple and kicking butt (we won three out of our four races!). To the girls not here I miss yall and wish we were all together in Nac. This next picture is our team after winning first at conference and placing 4 in the top 10, one of the best days ever :)

Also going on this weekend: Adam and I are so excited and lucky!
We have already had one amazing set of engagement pictures taken by my old roomie and bridesmaid Nicole
(the few I have seen look great, and I will post some when I get them)
and also this weekend, Lauren who is Adam's roomie's( Harmon) girlfriend is coming down and was so sweet and said she would take some more engagement pics for us! I can't wait they will all be wonderful!

Adam and I just finished watching our "Thursday show" The Office (we've been hooked for years now) and after he left its finishing the blog and off to bed...ready for those 6 times of 850 meter hill repeats tomorrow!

The First Step is Always the Hardest!

Just like in running, getting started is the hardest part...so here goes the first blog!

Welcome to Running Crazy! This blog hopefully will be a document of my life as i'm going through such an exciting time with an emphasis on one of my favorite topics...Running!  I have never seen myself as a typical "blogger" type of person, but after following a few blogs (with the help of pinterest.com) I was hooked!

At first I wanted to name the blog after my fiance and I, and follow our lives throughout the engagement and into marriage, but after much thought and deliberation I knew that I had to include the topic that is near and dear to both our hearts, of course Running :)
Adam (my fiance) and I are both runners.  We ran collegiately at Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe 'em Jacks!) where we met, and while Adam still has another year and a half left with the school I am now running with Adidas- Team Green based in the Woodlands, Tx.  Running is something that excites us both and we could shout from the mountains of the positive impact running could have on everyone!

Whew! First blog completed, hopefully I can become more savvy with this new and exciting blogger mindset and technology I will have to get in :)
