Inspirational Thoughts and Verses

At this moment I intended to be running, but God intended to water the earth so...God's plans trump mine :) And how perfect because it gives me an opportunity to..Write a Blog!!

When driving around today to my few places I had to go (all on campus) I heard some old tunes on the radio that made me smile and want to crank up the volume. So of course I wanted to share my enjoyment in case anyone would want to enjoy them on www.youtube.com
Started out the morning with: 1) One wish- by Ray J 2005
2) Buy you a drank- T-Pain 2005
3) Isn't it Ironic-Alanis Morissette 1995
4) I Want it That Way- Backstreet Boys 1999

Some pins I liked on www.Pinterest.com today :)

His love is UNFAILING

We worry so much about our futures, God's got it!

(The leaves are finally starting to change colors, thank you Lord!)

If you have time today: One of my most favorite places to read from in the bible is Psalms 139. It is a beautiful description of how well our God knows us. It makes me so happy every time :)

Winning $250!, Running, Booking Flights to Seattle

It feels like its been forever since I posted a blog! We (my family and I) got home so late on Saturday night after the race, and the day was just jam packed on Sunday.

Lets start off with Race Day Saturday!

If you read the last blog you know that Marie and I signed up to do the Riverside V 5 miler in Shreveport, Louisiana.this past Saturday night.  We both wanted to get in more races before our big race in December, and...there was prize money (wooo!)

My family was wonderful and decided to come watch me! And also Robbie (my brother) could run the 5k.  And our friend Laurie (who runs on the SFA team) was so sweet and came with us to watch!

When we arrived in Shreveport we first headed to the check in area (we were eager beavers and were the first people there!)

and Rob and I with bib numbers

After sitting around and waiting for about an hour (we have learned well from coach Snelling to be prompt) It was time to depart on the shuttle buses that would take us to the starting line.

While being driven there, we were informed the race would be a straight shot back to the check in area and would be on a major road that was closed down specifically for the race.

Marie and I did our two mile warm-up (and scoped out the competition, to see who we thought looked legit)
Then the race was off!! Marie and I followed out a lead pack of ULM alum guys (who we met and they knew Adam and some guys from the SFA team!) After 5 miles of racing I ended up being the 1st woman and Marie was 2nd with times of 29:04 and 29:47

We both averaged sub 6 min. miles and were very happy with our race, but the cherry on top (very very big cherry) was I won $250 and Marie won $150, not a bad day if you ask either of us ;)

Us after the race with Laurie

Robbie Won his 5K!! He blew away the competition and was sooo far in the lead!

Afterwards they had a spaghetti dinner for everyone, and a live band while handing out all of the rewards

Marie and I both won plates!

The guy who was handing out awards was dressed as Jackie Moon from the movie Semi- Pro and he looked JUST like Will Ferrel. We HAD to get a picture with him!

We then had a long drive back to good 'ol Nac, were we crashed and woke up in a few hours to run 8 more miles ;)
Oh! I couldn't forget about this! When walking into our apartment i stumbled upon this little treat waiting for me...
My roomie, Steph, was soo sweet and made me a congratulations out of Jenga blocks!! Perfect end to the night :)

As far as running goes these past two days:
- On Sunday we had a recovery 8 miles
- Today we had our long run (switched with Sunday) 15 miles around town

Lastly, I did a very "big girl" thing today.  On December the 10th Team Green will be racing at the Cross Country National Team Championships in Seattle, so today I purchased my plane ticket! (I know, I know may not seem like that  big of a deal, but its a plane ticket! Don't judge!)

Only easy miles for today because tomorrow, Marie and I are running the Riverside V 5miler in Shreveport!!

It will be a 5 miler on the roads and relatively flat (or so i hear, fingers crossed!) Team Green will be ready to go tomorrow! http://www.teamgreenrunning.com/

Now to the exciting stuff.....Engagement Pictures! (im sad they do not have better fonts for this booo)

As some of ya'll know, my Redheaded old roomie/bridesmaid was wonderful and sweet and said she would take some engagement picts for us!
So here are a few to look at (these were taken at our SFA arboretum)

Thank you so much Nicole, we love you!!!!

Finally Friday!...or almost anyways :)
That means that much closer to Thanksgiving, the end of the semester, July 28th! But on the flip side that means the deadline is that much closer to my 30 page paper due for Texas history class ughh.

At the beginning of the school year Nacogdoches was somehow lucky enough to be blessed with its very own.... CINNABON!  And on opening day the first 50 customers could purchase a six pack of cinnamon rolls and receive a card for 1 free cinnabon a week for the rest of the year! Adam was one of those lucky people (that's why I love him!)

So last night Adam took Nicole and I out for a cinnamon roll

MMMHH! Soo Good!

Workout this Morning:
3 Mile warmup
On the track: 8 by 800 @ 80 sec pace with 35sec jog recovery in between
1.5 Mile cool down

Ab workout yesterday:
Regular crunches-80
Straight Leg crunches-80 (You must keep your knees bent though or it hurts your back!)
Straight legs in the air- 80 (reach across your body with hand to opposite foot, back and forth)
Russian Twist- 100 (Sitting on your tail bone with legs bent and feet off the ground, hand clasped in front of you, twist your torso to the right and left so your hands are no longer in front of you. Going to the left and right very quickly)
Regular plank- 1 min (hold your body straight and in a plank position balancing on your toes and forearms)

Planks extreme (Hard!)- hold the plank position for 30 secs then rise up onto your hands and back down to elbows one arm at a time for five times. Hold the plank another 30 secs and then do five more intervals of going up and down)

For dinner tonight:

I haven't really cooked in a while Adam's mom was really great and about a month ago loaded his refrigerator with sooo much frozen pre-cooked dinner that she had already made. We have been eating well for a while ;) But sadly all good things must come to an end and back to the stove for me (I really like it though! so no worries)

We had: Cheesy, Ground turkey, rice, beans, corn combo! (what a creative name I cam up with lol)

Ingredients:

  • cup and a half of pre cooked long grained rice
  • Pound of browned ground turkey
  • half a can of corn
  • can of black beans (15oz)
  • Can of Tomato soup (this would be for the blander taste (Adam) I would prefer a half cup of Salsa to give it a kick)
  • Half a cup of sour cream
  • handful of cheese in it and on top
  • Season with salt/pepper/garlic powder/onion powder
  • Cook at 350 for about 20- 25 mins

And, Oven baked green beans!
Can of green beans (fresh would be better though), put in a bowl, pour little bit of olive oil over, then season with salt and pepper.  Place evenly on baking sheet and thats all. So easy!

Also, one last thing..Kroger has some awesome deals going on right now so go stock up on 50cent Campbell's soups and Del Monte green beans for Thanksgiving green bean casserole!!

Its still dark outside

Well no sleeping in for me this week....

Just like they said they would the substitute office called nice and early this morning, at 6:10 to be exact! (They always do but I usually have my phone on silent) So I grudgingly drug myself from my nice warm covers and accepted a 1st grade position.

Breakfast today:

- 1 cup of oatmeal (mine was strawberry cheesecake flavored, good kick to the morning!)
- 1 cut up banana
- Oatmeal oats, this amount varies depending on the consistency you like (I add a lot)
- About 1/4 cup of milk
mmm, so good!

Well hi-ho, hi-ho its off to work I go!

Scrambled Eggs in the Microwave

Good Morning! November is here, and hopefully the leaves will start changing soon so we can have the scenery to match this cool weather!

On the schedule for today was: MILE REPEATS wooo! (I can say that now that they are over lol)

Warm up: 3 mile warm up at about 7:20-7:30 pace

Workout: 4x 1600(thats a mile for those who don't know) starting at 5:45 pace and                    working down. With 3 minute rest.

Mile one: 5:46
Mile two: 5:42
Mile three: 5:35
Mile four: 5:30

Cool Down:2 mile cool down at about 7:30 pace

Breakfast:

Today for breakfast, I had a bagel with egg and cheese and salsa on top with a side of banana.
The eggs for this sandwich, were made in the microwave! Most of my roomies last year thought I was crazy when they saw me putting eggs in a mug in our microwave and had never heard of this easy egg strategy before.  So today I will share with you one of the amazing shortcuts on time (and cleanup!). Cooking eggs in the microwave!

All you need is eggs and a mug!

Crack your eggs (probably one or two) and get to scramblin'

Cover your mug with a paper towel (HINT: this is the most important step! Or else you will have exploded egg to clean up!) and put it in the microwave for about 45 secs- a minute. (I would start on the lower end first, to see how your microwave cooks. You can always put them back in for longer!)

And finally TADA! Easy, Simple, Fast, scrambled eggs :) and the only clean up is the mug!

In Honor of Halloween

Lunch Today: Bullritos restaurant with the Saloom's

Just recently opened up in Nac. I am a burrito person and I give it two thumbs up! Not many places can compete with Chipotle but this place sure does!

Since it is Halloween, I thought I might dig up some old scary picts from the camera!

The background on what you are about to witness:
This summer in June a movie was being shot in Nac., "Christmas with the Dead"
(here is the link to IMDB page http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954334/ if you're interested)
in my history class the professor told us that they were looking for extras to play either zombies or cultists!(my mother was not thrilled about either of these options, or the whole movie in general lol)

I don't know about you but I was absolutely thrilled about getting to be in a movie, even if was an extra in the background!
I quickly agreed and went to the information meeting.  Luckily one of my friends Keith joined on board and was there with me!
When arriving on set we had little info of what was going to be happening to us except that after it was all said and done we were supposed to look like zombies oooooh!

This is what happend: (again, my mother will be absolutely horrified I am showing this!)

Getting my arms painted a nice zombie color

after the first part of make- up

some other zombie friends that had extensive masks done

Keith and I in our zombie make-up and garb

a very cool zombie wound (the make-up artists were sooo good! They worked in the movie Zombie Land also)

More zombies! (I was a little jealous I didn't get to be the zombie bride)

More cool make-up

Overall a very fun experience!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
